The Old Mill Hotel in Motherwell
is situated on the banks of the River Calder at the
end of Mill Road, only half a mile from the town
centre. The building dates back to the 16th century
and the Hotel have made a feature of the original
mill machinery, which is displayed behind glass panels,
telling the 500 year history of the mill in the new
public bar. Adding to the atmosphere is the genuine
waterwheel that was originally used to power the
grain mill using the force of the River Calder as
it came over the waterfall.
Motherwell is in an ideal location within Lanarkshire
in Central Scotland. The main artery motorways in
Scotland, the M74 and M8 are all minutes drive away,
and we are within 40 minutes drive of Scotlands'
three main airports - Edinburgh, Glasgow International
and Glasgow Prestwick.
